Job summary

Akima Fort Irwin Fire Department seeks motivated Firefighter/Paramedics to join a rugged, mission-focused team at the Fort Irwin Army Training Center in the Mojave Desert. You will respond to fire, rescue, and medical emergencies, operate firefighting equipment, and participate in prevention and public education programs for thousands of visitors and families.

The role requires NFPA 1001 Firefighter I & II, Paramedic certification, a valid driver’s license, and successful CPAT/FCTC tests.

Qualifications

• Must possess formal Firefighter training and certification (CSFM, DoD, IFSAC, Pro-Board, or equivalent).
• Must possess a current Paramedic certification (ICEMA, National Registry or equivalent).
• Must pass national background check and drug screening.
• Must possess valid driver's license (state-issued).
• CPAT and FCTC entry requirements demonstrated by passing tests.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire and medical emergencies to protect life and property.
• Lay and connect hoses, direct water streams, and use forcible entry tools.
• Ventilate structures, perform rescues, and transport patients when needed.
• Operate and maintain firefighting equipment and perform routine maintenance.
• Engage in public education, fire prevention, and team collaboration.
