Job summary

County of Imperial is seeking Reserve Firefighters to perform fire suppression, equipment maintenance, and emergency medical care duties at an assigned facility in Imperial County, CA. This position supports the regular workforce on an as-needed, non-full-time basis.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and an EMT certificate (CA or NREMT) within one year of hire, plus a California Class C driver's license. Pre-employment drug tests and background checks may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.
  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License. EMT certificate issued by an EMS authority agency and/or NREMT certification within one year of employment.
  • A valid driver’s license may be required at the time of appointment and employees may also be required to drive their own vehicle and provide proof of liability insurance as per Vehicle Code VC § 160020.
  • This position may require pre-employment drug test, physical examination, and fingerprinting for a background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • The Reserve Firefighter class performs routine fire suppression and firehouse maintenance duties at an assigned facility. This class is not a full time class and incumbents are called in to supplement the regular workforce as needed.

Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
