Job summary

Fort Irwin Fire Department seeks dedicated Firefighter/EMTs to protect life and property within the Mojave Desert and at the base. You will respond to alarms, provide EMS care, and perform fire suppression, prevention, and public education activities across multiple stations and units.

You must hold formal firefighter training/certification and an EMT credential, be a U.S. citizen, pass CPAT, and maintain a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Must possess the ability to use sound judgment and common sense when performing job functions.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must possess high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have received formal Firefighter training and certification (CSFM, DoD, IFSAC, Pro-Board, Community College program or equivalent).
• Must possess a current EMT certification (ICEMA, National Registry or equivalent).
• Must pass national background check to include drug screening.
• Must possess valid state (any state) issued driver's license.
• Have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Qualified candidate must possess proof of passing CPAT (Candidate Physical Ability Test), Biddle or equivalent.
• Qualified candidate must possess proof of passing the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center (FCTC) Entry Level Firefighter Written Exam. (If FCTC testing is needed please register at FCTC click Home | Fctc Online).

Responsibilities

• Emergency Response: Respond promptly to fire alarms, rescue alarms, and medical emergency calls with initiative and a can-do attitude.
• Medical Services: Provide immediate medical care at emergency scenes, including basic life support and advanced life support as needed.
• Fire Prevention and Education: Participate in fire prevention activities, including inspections and community education programs with proactive enthusiasm.
