Job summary

Stantec in Des Moines, IA, is seeking Summer 2027 Civil Engineering interns in the Community Development Group. You will work on urban design, roadways, park and recreation design, trails, and more, gaining exposure to diverse projects in a supportive team environment.

Interns may assist with CAD drafting, design, and construction documents while developing communication with staff, clients, and stakeholders. Some roles may involve remote work with housing and meals covered by Stantec.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• Exposure to planning, design, construction, infrastructure, hydrology, environmental, surveying, or construction management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Understanding of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Apply civil engineering skills to a range of projects in a team setting.
• Inspect sites for compliance with project documents and engineering principles.
• Assist with plans, specifications, reports, and other deliverables.
• Attend meetings as needed; prepare detailed reports.
