Job summary

Penn Medicine's Dermatopathology Lab is seeking a Dermatopathology Lab Technical Assistant to perform pre-analytical tasks, assist with specimens, and support laboratory operations in the Derm Pathology department at the Penn Center for Personalized Diagnostics, 3020 Market St.

Responsibilities include following SOPs, accessioning cases, coordinating specimen logistics, and maintaining equipment and supplies while ensuring safety and quality across all shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma/GED is required.
• 5+ years of Dermatopathology lab experience desired.
• Experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) such as Penn Chart is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follows SOP for collection, tracking and processing of pathology specimens.
• Registers and accession cases in the Laboratory Information System.
• Handles specimen receipt, labeling, and barcoding for tracking and processing.
• Maintains lab equipment and supplies, ensuring proper storage and disposal of hazardous waste.
• Communicates effectively with medical staff and lab personnel, ensuring patient safety and accuracy.
