Penn Medicine's Department of Anatomic Pathology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania seeks a Full-Time Lead Anatomic Pathology Technical Lab Assistant to oversee section operations, assist in scheduling and staffing, and troubleshoot processes in Surgical Pathology, Cytopathology, Medical Pathology and Morgue.

The role requires mastery of specimen handling, accessioning, tracking in Penn Chart EPIC and LIS, and adherence to safety regulations across three shifts, including weekends

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience as an Anatomic Pathology Technical Lab Assistant I or equivalent.
• Enrollment in an accredited Cytotechnology, Histotechnology, Medical Technology/Technician program or related lab experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Follows SOP for collection, tracking and processing of pathology specimens; collaborates with operating rooms and labs.
• Reviews patient samples and requisitions; ensures accuracy of tests and traceability in LIS and Epic systems.
• Registers and accession cases; verifies insurance and creates appointments; ensures proper match of orders in Epic OpTime.

Formation

H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)

5+ years Experience as Anatomic Pathology Technical Lab Assistant I or equivalent

Enrollment in accredited Cytotechnology/Histotechnology/Medical Technology program (Preferred)
