Job summary

Forefront Dermatology is seeking a Pathology Lab Manager to oversee day-to-day dermatopathology lab operations, staff management, and quality control. The role supports bench work up to 30% and ensures regulatory compliance across CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and related standards.

The position offers a 40-hour schedule, Mon-Fri, with a $10k sign-on bonus and comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vision, HSA, PTO, life and disability coverage, retirement plan and profit sharing.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher in a related science.
• HT/L certification required.
• Minimum 5 years in high-volume pathology lab.
• Minimum 3 years in a leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily lab operations to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance.
• Monitor workload and adjust staffing to meet demand.
• Conduct daily lab rounds to assess workflow, staffing, environment and morale.
• Triage tasks as needed to maintain operational flow.
• Oversee lab supervisors and technical staff, providing direction and support.
• Provide backup coverage for Supervisors during absences or vacancies.
• Maintain a positive lab culture through coaching and performance management.
• Develop and maintain training programs, including SOPs and troubleshooting guides.
• Coordinate onboarding and ongoing staff training; ensure competency.
• Lead staff recruiting and career development efforts.
• Review and approve work schedules and PTO; manage payroll approvals.
• Approve timesheets for payroll for direct reports and supervised staff.
• Conduct 90-day and annual performance reviews; provide growth plans.
• Lead performance improvement initiatives with documentation and follow-up.
• Analyze workflows to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Recommend workflow, staffing, and equipment changes with data support.
• Assist in selecting and procuring new equipment; perform cost analysis.
• Ensure regulatory compliance (CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA) through training and monitoring.
• Oversee incident documentation and root-cause analysis.
• Maintain quality standards via QC checks and SOPs.
• Maintain facility and equipment safety and functionality.
• Coordinate equipment validation, repair, and replacement.
• Manage staining quality and supply inventory.
• Perform bench work up to 30% during peak periods; support staffing.
