Job summary

The University of Southern California (USC) Keck School of Medicine is seeking a full-time Grossing Technician for the Dermatopathology Laboratory within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. This role provides technical expertise to ensure quality, efficiency, productivity, and quick turnaround times.

Responsibilities include receiving and triaging specimens, preparing blocks and slides, and performing procedures like frozen sections.

Qualifications

Education and/or training in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology
Experience with chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology
Minimum education: Specialized/technical training, Associate's degree Medical Technology
Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education

Responsibilities

Receive, accession, and triage patient specimens, blocks, and slides.
Dissect and prepare non-complex dermatopathology surgical specimens and surgical biopsy specimens.
Perform specialized procedures such as frozen sections and decalcification
Monitor incoming phone inquiries and requests.
Handle and dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols.
Maintain and organize laboratory supplies; monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
