Job summary

Banner Health is seeking a Medical Assistant in Glendale, AZ, to join the New River Trails Dermatology team. You will room patients, take vitals, assist with procedures, scribe, and update EMRs with accuracy and timeliness.

In this role you will call patients with results, check faxes, initiate prior authorizations, stock rooms, sterilize instruments, and contribute as a strong team player within a friendly, family-like environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year of direct patient interaction/experience in medical, insurance, or healthcare-related industry.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations; strong customer service focus; effective communication; ability to manage competing priorities; proficient with commonly used office software.

Responsibilities

• Schedules appointments for specialty physician services and diagnostic testing.
• Acts as liaison between patients, providers and staff for referral and follow-up needs.
• Provides all pertinent clinical information for payor authorization and pre-service coordination.
• Tracks referrals and follows up with patients at 30/60/90 day intervals.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of insurance regulations and payor sources.
• Collaborates with outside referral sources and networks to develop additional referral sources.
• Consistently communicates with patients, physicians, staff, and third party payers, prioritizing tasks under supervision.
