Job summary

Banner Health Dermatology in Glendale, AZ seeks a Medical Assistant to support patient care and the Banner experience. You will room patients, take vital signs, assist with procedures, scribe, and update electronic medical records accurately and timely.

You will also call patients with results, coordinate referrals, verify coverage, obtain prior authorizations, stock rooms, sterilize instruments, and collaborate with a strong team in a family-like environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 1 year of direct patient interaction/experience.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
• Strong customer service focus; willingness to problem solve.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments for specialty services and tests per provider request; inform patient of scheduling details.
• Serve as liaison between patients, providers and staff; educate patients and families.
• Provide clinical information for payor authorization prior to services; verify coverage and obtain authorization.
• Track referrals at 30/60/90 day intervals and follow up if appointments aren’t kept.
• Understand managed care concepts and maintain knowledge of insurance environments; use resources to stay updated.
