Job summary

DOCS Dermatology Group is hiring a Medical Assistant to support clinicians in our busy dermatology centers. You will verify patient information, record medical history, prepare exam rooms, and assist during examinations.

You will also perform phlebotomy, take photos, and manage phone triage and prescription calls, ensuring accurate documentation in the EHR. We value patient-centered care, teamwork, and adherence to HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in medical office.
• Ability to learn related center tasks and be of assistance to management and physicians.
• Self-motivated to achieve the highest patient care and customer service standards.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred).
• Familiarity with the ModMed EMA EMR (preferred).
• Thorough understanding of HIPAA law.
• Some offices within the Docs Dermatology Group network may require travel.
• Team player.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history and confirming purpose of visit.
• Enter medical history and visit information into EHR.
• Escort patients to exam room.
• Ask pertinent medical questions and data entry into EHR.
• Prepare patient for exam by providing drapes and materials.
• Taking photographs.
• Assist physician during medical examination and procedures.
• Phone in prescriptions to various pharmacies.
• Schedule medical procedures.
• Instruct patients on proper usage of medications.
• Change wound dressings, remove sutures, and perform in-office phlebotomy.
• Collect, log and package lab specimens for transport.
• Sterilize medical instruments.
• Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock and placing orders.
• Complete phone triage.
• Notify patients of pathology and lab results.
• Scribe office visits.
• Administer IM, SQ, and topical medications.
• Document nurse visit appointments including sutures, UVB, Excimer, Patch Testing, Biologic injections.
• Maintain safe, secure and healthy work environment.
