Job summary

Peraza Dermatology Group is seeking a Histology Technician to support dermatologic biopsy and surgical specimen processing. The role requires a BS in a related field and HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification, with experience in histology and Mohs lab procedures preferred.

The position emphasizes accuracy, organizational skills, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare setting, with safety and confidentiality as priorities.

Qualifications

• BS in Biology, Medical Laboratory Science, Histotechnology, or related field.
• HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification required.
• Experience in histology/histotechnology.
• Dermatopathology or Mohs lab experience preferred.
• Experience with tissue processing, paraffin embedding, microtomy, H&E staining, special stains, and IHC.

Responsibilities

• Prepare biopsy tissue specimens for histological processing.
• Reconcile biopsy specimens and ensure accessioning.
• Verify labeling across logs, containers, blocks, slides, and requisitions.
• Perform gross examination and document gross descriptions.
• Section paraffin-embedded tissue and prepare slides for examination.
• Perform H&E staining and routine tissue processing.
• Maintain documentation and quality control throughout workflow.
• Communicate discrepancies or quality concerns promptly.
