Job summary

Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support Gas and Electric Service and New Development Engineering. The role involves interconnecting Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) to the grid, designing for overhead/underground networks, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

Based at our Madison, WI headquarters, this onsite-leaning hybrid role requires regular in-office presence with flexibility for field work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in electrical, civil engineering, or related field.
• Some electric design, distribution, or civil engineering experience preferred.
• Interest in working toward Professional Engineer designation in Wisconsin preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in reviewing systems to interconnect large-scale DERs into the distribution grid.
• Provide technical expertise for DER interconnection projects to meet standards and best practices for safe interconnection.
• Perform engineering and design for overhead, underground, and network for new customer development projects.
• Ensure regulatory interconnection timelines and communications requirements are met.
• Collaborate with team engineers to support internal and external project stakeholders during DER interconnection.
• Coordinate with other departments and external entities to plan, design, and schedule Company projects per customer schedules.
• Review plans and one-lines for installation of electric service gear.
• Maintain knowledge of safety codes (NESC, Wisconsin Administrative Code) and PSCW requirements.
