Job summary

ENERCON Services, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Planning Engineer to lead DER impact studies and ensure safe, reliable integration of distributed energy resources into the distribution grid.

You will model and analyze hosting capacity, voltage regulation, and protection coordination, and prepare reports for stakeholders and regulators. Mentorship and process improvements are also part of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Typically requires 6 years of experience in electric utility distribution planning with a DER focus.
• Strong understanding of distribution system operations, protection, and planning.
• PE license preferred; familiarity with IEEE 1547, FERC and NERC favored.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support DER impact studies including hosting capacity, voltage regulation, thermal loading, and protection coordination.
• Perform steady-state and dynamic modeling using WindMil, CYME, and Synergi; develop distribution system models.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and regulatory documentation for stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of planning processes.
