Job summary

Eversource Energy is seeking a Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Planning Engineer to provide distribution-focused expertise in DER power system studies and project development. You will perform modeling and analyses for generation and storage interconnections with the distribution system, ensuring optimal integration and reliability.

The role involves coordinating with internal teams, preparing ISO-NE interconnection documentation, and owning project schedules.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of electrical engineering concepts including distributed generation, energy storage, reliability, load flow, stability, short circuit, voltage regulation, transients, power factor, and losses.
• Technical comprehension of power delivery system parameters and functions, with knowledge of power industry fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Develop distribution system power flow models using Synergi and PSCAD; study interconnection of generation and storage.
• Assess DER integration solutions and their impact on distribution and ISO-NE regional systems.
• Prepare ISO-NE interconnection documentation as needed.
• Manage review and impact analysis of distribution interconnection requests; Pre-Applications and queue support.
• Interface with internal/external stakeholders to determine planning needs and proposed plans.
• Verify technical feasibility of proposed plans with industry standards; develop design solutions to mitigate violations.
• Provide weekly updates on project deliverables and assist with PAFs and internal authorizations.
