Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation is seeking a Grid Tech professional to oversee safety, operations and reliability of distributed energy resources across multiple sites. The role collaborates with DCC, DEOM, and Trading teams to manage energy storage, solar and microgrid assets in real time.

You will monitor DER performance, maintain logs, and implement health and performance actions while ensuring EH&S compliance in a fast-paced control room environment. On-call duties and after-hours work are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Bachelor’s degree or four-year technical degree
• 3 years related work experience
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Advanced knowledge of Duke Energy’s distribution system
• Detailed knowledge of Power Systems, including Transmission, Distribution, Load Control
• Voltage Control, Frequency Control, Power Quality
• Knowledge of energy storage and solar systems
• Knowledge of control systems for monitoring and operations
• Additional years of DER asset dispatching experience
• Experience in developing procedures or work processes

Responsibilities

• Maintain detailed knowledge of DER assets operating characteristics and performance.
• Maintain daily logs of system events and provide verbal notifications of anomalies.
• Monitor real-time power output, availability, and efficiency of DER facilities.
• Curtailment directives from entities and coordinate with DCC personnel.
• Direct DCC and Energy Trading group interactions for DER planning and operations.
• Schedule and coordinate energy storage facility usage and health actions.
• Support EH&S compliance and reporting.
• Develop system reporting metrics and health/performance reports.
• Engage with teammates to grow skills and ensure reporting proficiency.
