SALARY: The salary range for this position is $93,495.46 to $136,175.80 for Schedule A, and $93,495.46 to $129,367.01 for Schedule B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater.Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule A. Newly hired individuals, and Judiciary employees hired on or after June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule B.

The Office of Attorney Ethics (OAE) acts as the investigative and prosecutorial arm of the Supreme Court of New Jersey in discharging the Supreme Court's constitutional responsibility to supervise and discipline New Jersey attorneys. The mission of the OAE is expressed by the New Jersey Supreme Court in its precedent: to preserve public confidence in the Bar and to protect the public from lawyers who fail to comport with the high professional standards articulated in the New Jersey Rules of Professional Conduct.

This position presents a unique opportunity to be part of a team of service minded professionals within the OAE who support the Statewide District Ethics Committees (DECs).
The New Jersey Judiciary, Office of Attorney Ethics, Supreme Court of New Jersey, seeks an attorney to act as an Assistant Deputy Ethics Counsel in the District Ethics Committee Unit within the OAE. This position assists the Statewide Ethics Coordinator with the roughly 600 volunteer members of the DECs and the 53 DEC officers (all volunteer attorneys) who serve on the 18 DECs throughout New Jersey. The position requires the candidate to be skilled at efficiently analyzing different legal and factual situations, followed by the drafting of concise summaries and recommendations for proposed response or action. The candidate must be able to write with insight, clarity, speed, and accuracy. The selected candidate will be assigned to designated DECs as the key staff member who follows up with Officers and members to ensure the timely processing and disposition of the cases pursuant to R. 1:20-8.
REMOTE WORK : The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.
