The Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a Deputy Sheriff to protect life and property and enforce laws across Mille Lacs County. This role involves responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, and collaborating with other agencies to keep communities safe.

Eligible applicants must meet Minnesota POST license requirements, hold a Class D Driver’s License, pass background checks, and complete required medical and psychological exams.

Qualificações

• Eligibility for Minnesota Peace Officers Standards and Training Board license.
• Firearms certification.
• Class D Driver’s License.
• Must successfully complete a criminal history background check, pre-employment physical, physical agility testing, and psychological examination.

Responsabilidades

• Works to prevent crimes and preserve public safety. Patrols county roads and enforces traffic laws; issues warnings or citations; observes road conditions and weather.
• Performs administrative duties, writes clear reports, attends in-service training; accounts for shift activities; cares for department vehicles and equipment.
• Performs traffic control to assist emergency responders; provides assistance to other law enforcement agencies as needed.
• Performs initial investigations; preserves evidence; interviews suspects, victims, and witnesses; may transfer cases to an Investigator; testifies in court; secures major crime scenes.
• Responds to emergency calls; assesses need for additional support; may deploy SWAT, K‑9, or Search and Rescue.
• Interacts with violent or mentally ill individuals to protect the public; administers medical aid until paramedics arrive; makes arrests when justified.
• Participates in special assignments (Court Security Officer, Boat/Water Patrol, School Liaison, SWAT volunteer, Drug Task Force Officer, Domestic Violence Surveillance, Drug Court Officer).
• Communicates with the public to inform safety matters; may transport prisoners; handles Civil Process paperwork.
