Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a Deputy Port Director to lead the Port Department's facilities, services, and capital program delivery. This executive role requires extensive leadership, strategic planning, and a deep understanding of port operations and the global supply chain.

You will provide direction on asset management, revenue generation, and cross-department collaboration to drive efficiency, safety, and customer service across the region.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business administration, transportation, international trade, logistics, engineering or related field.
  • Graduate degree in business administration, public administration, transportation, engineering, or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 20 years of progressively responsible executive experience, with at least 10 years in port/maritime transportation.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and be able to obtain a TWIC within 60 days of starting.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Director in all matters related to managing the Port Department.
  • Oversee and provide direction to department leadership that manages facilities, maintenance, regulatory compliance, and capital project delivery.
  • Provide strategic guidance to develop procedures to protect revenue, generate new sources, and maximize productivity/capacity of port facilities.
  • Provide oversight and guidance for inter-departmental cooperation to align roles and responsibilities.
  • Participate in strategic planning, policy development, and performance improvements to increase revenue and reduce costs.
