Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey seeks an experienced transportation executive to serve as Deputy Director, Priority Capital Construction Programs, overseeing TB&T’s major projects and a substantial capital budget.

You will guide the executive team and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to advance critical programs such as Restore the George, Outerbridge Crossing, Lincoln Helix, and the Bus Terminal replacement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Management, Technology, Operations Management or related field from an accredited college or university. A graduate degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, Transportation or a related field is preferred.
• 10 - 15 years of progressively responsible experience at an executive level capacity, preferably working for an organization comparable to the size and complexity of the operation in the Tunnels, Bridges and Terminals department at the PANYNJ, with at least 7 years in the public transportation field.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• Responsible for advancing TB&T’s Priority Capital Construction Programs and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to advance these critical projects. The portfolio of Priority Capital Construction Programs includes: Restore the George; Rehabilitation of the Outerbridge Crossing; Rehabilitation of the Lincoln Tunnel Helix; Port Authority Bus Terminal Replacement.
• Represent the Director in all matters related to managing the Tunnels, Bridges, and Terminals Department when the Director is out of office as needed.
• Oversee and provide direction to the leaders within the Department that manage the Priority Capital Construction Projects portfolio.
• Provide oversight, leadership and guidance to matters associated with advancing initiatives that require inter‑departmental cooperation.
• Participate in the development of the department’s strategic planning and policy agenda, business plan and support initiatives that increase revenue, reduce costs, and improve process efficiency, safety, mobility and customer service.
• Continuously review the department’s organizational structure and functions to ensure effective, efficient staff alignment to achieve the department’s mission and vision, while supporting a work climate that embraces diversity.
• Work with department leaders, to ensure staff capability, availability, competence and motivation.
