Fermilab in Batavia, IL seeks a Deputy Laboratory Director for Operations and Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead daily operations and long-range planning. The role reports to the Lab Director and oversees Facilities, HR, Finance, Information Systems, and Partnerships. Onsite work in Batavia is required.

The position drives performance improvements across the portfolio, aligning with DOE directives and Fermilab's strategic goals. A DOE Q clearance is required upon appointment.

Qualifications

• Experience in large facility planning and operation in a government contractor environment.
• Excellent leadership, organizational planning, communication, and management skills.
• Must be clearable for a DOE Q security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develops long-range strategic plans to improve operating processes across the Lab.
• Oversees facilities, HR, finance, information systems, and partnerships.
• Keeps stakeholders informed and reports on budgets and objectives.
• Ensures compliance with DOE directives and safety regulations.
• Collaborates with DOE, site office, and project stakeholders.
