Job summary

Seattle Housing Authority is seeking a Deputy General Counsel I to join our legal team in Seattle. Working under the General Counsel, you will provide legal advice, draft documents, and represent SHA in court, administrative, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings related to SHA programs and activities.

The ideal candidate will be admitted to the Washington State Bar, have three years of professional legal experience, and possess expertise in landlord-tenant law, real estate and land

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school with admission to the Washington State Bar.
• Active Washington State Bar Association membership.
• Three (3) years of professional legal experience.
• Experience in one or more: Employment, Labor relations, Real estate/land use, Public works financing, Federal purchasing, Landlord-tenant law, Washington housing/RCW 35.82, Federal housing programs.

Responsibilities

• Represent SHA in Superior Court unlawful detainer proceedings and appeals.
• Provide legal counsel on SHA programs and housing-related matters; advise staff on low-income housing and vouchers.
• Counsel on landlord-tenant issues, notices, terminations, and related procedures under state, local, and federal law.
• Draft notices, pleadings, and briefs for unlawful detainers and lease actions; attend hearings and depositions.
