Job summary

The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM) seeks a Deputy Fire Marshal to promote community safety through fire prevention. Responsibilities include life safety inspections and educating the public while coordinating with OSFM and local agencies. Travel across Arizona is required.

Hours are typically Mon-Fri with possible nights/weekends; select applicants must hold Inspector 1 Certification and a valid AZ driver’s license. Competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the Arizona State Fire Code and related building codes.
• Ability to perform periodic life safety and construction inspections.
• Excellent communication and public-facing skills.
• Ability to travel statewide and manage inspections and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Conduct periodic Life Safety Inspections.
• Perform Permit Inspections for fire protection systems and construction.
• Travel between inspection sites throughout Arizona.
• Handle administrative tasks as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
