Job summary

City of Concord invites applications for Deputy Fire Chief to join the Concord Fire Department. This executive role leads professional standards, training, EMS quality assurance, personnel investigations, and performance improvement efforts within a collaborative leadership team.

Ideal candidates will have a strong track record in leadership, judgment, and communication, with experience guiding complex organizational issues and budget management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science/Protection, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field and five years of experience at a level equivalent to Company Officer, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• A valid New Hampshire Driver’s License and Firefighter Level II certification are required.
• Fire and/or EMT Instructor certification and National Registry Paramedic certification are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor personnel; manage disciplinary actions and performance evaluations.
• Direct and coordinate training curricula and professional development.
• Oversee QA/CQI programs and development of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs).
• Monitor personnel performance and conduct investigations; collaborate with City Solicitor’s Office and HR.
