Job summary

The Virginia Department of Health is seeking a Deputy Director of Financial Reporting and Compliance in the Office of Financial Management to lead financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of financial reporting, general accounting, accounts payable, and payroll processes.
• Experience supervising staff and teams.
• Experience planning and reviewing year-end closure, financial statements and notes per GASB.
• Experience developing and implementing training programs.
• Experience presenting fiscal and accounting policies to leadership or boards.
• Experience liaising with external auditors and consultants.

Responsibilities

• Oversee financial reporting and compliance functions across the Office of Financial Management.
• Ensure data integrity and strong internal controls in line with GAAP/GAAS.
• Supervise staff, manage performance, and coordinate with external auditors and consultants.
• Develop and implement policy reviews and process improvements.
