Job summary

Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services is seeking a Deputy Director to lead the 24/7 E-911 Communications Center, providing strategic and hands-on leadership across operations, admin, and training. You will drive high-quality call taking and dispatch, advance NG911 capabilities, and ensure policy compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Safety, or related field required with five years' progressively responsible emergency communications or public safety leadership experience.
• Demonstrated experience in QA/QI, analytics/metrics, and budgeting; staff supervision and development preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop staff: recruit, coach, evaluate, and discipline; manage schedules and set performance standards.
• Oversee 911 receive/dispatch operations, QA/QI, case evaluations, audio review, and performance metrics.
• Direct Administration and Training: curriculum, certification, and career development alignment with policy and standards.
• Manage mission-critical technologies: GIS/geo-routing, MSAG/ALI, NG911/ESInet, CAD, telephony, and cybersecurity; ensure upgrades and interoperability.
• Oversee facilities, security, power, equipment lifecycle, space planning, and continuity of operations.
• Coordinate policy development, performance measures, grant management, data analysis, and special projects; support budget functions.
• Manage 24/7 payroll processes, timekeeping, shift differentials, HR/Finance coordination, and absences.
