Job summary

Cobb County Government seeks a Deputy Director to plan, direct, and oversee the 24/7 E-911 Communications Center. You will provide strategic and day-to-day leadership across operations, administration, and training, ensuring quality call taking and dispatch and driving NG911 capabilities.

You will lead staff development, manage performance, and coordinate with public safety partners, while guiding policy, budgeting, and accreditation efforts for ongoing excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Safety, or related field plus five years of progressively responsible emergency communications management or public safety leadership experience.
• Master’s degree or equivalent in related field is preferred.
• Experience with accreditation (CALEA/ACE), NG911 implementations, and major systems (CAD/RMS/radio/telephony).
• Proven ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives and manage budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and develop staff; recruit, coach, evaluate, and discipline.
• Oversee 24/7 E-911 operations and ensure high-quality call taking and dispatch.
• Direct QA/QI, analytics/metrics, and budgeting activities.
• Manage technology: GIS, MSAG/ALI, 800 MHz systems, CAD/RMS interfaces, and ESInet readiness.
• Represent department with County leadership, partners, and the public.
