The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services, and provides subsidized child care vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement, and programs for youth in the community.
The Division of Child and Family Well-Being (CFWB) works to ensure families and children have the critical supports they need to thrive and exercise self-determination. CFWB leverages concrete resources, stakeholder relationships, and community and family strengths to drive toward greater equity and social justice, reduce disparities and disproportionality - including in the child welfare system -, and create conditions that foster well-being for families and children across New York City. Our work includes the provision of child care assistance; support for caregivers and child-serving professionals to prevent child injury; and investment in community-based approaches.
The Provider Inquiry Unit (PIU) unit researches and investigates provider payment/enrollment issues that could not be resolved by CFWB Call Center agents at the time of their call. PIU staff work very closely with the ACS Finance/Voucher Payment Unit (VPU) as well as with YMS Management Associates Inc., the ACS contracted payment agent for subsidized voucher providers. PIU is also responsible for provider closures in ACCIS because of action by OCFS.
The Deputy Director of the Provider Inquiry Unit (PIU) assists the Director in managing the daily operations of the unit responsible for providing information, technical assistance, and problem resolution to child care providers, families, community partners, and government agencies regarding child care subsidy services and provider enrollment activities.
The Deputy Director oversees staff responsible for responding to inquiries related to child care enrollment, attendance reporting, provider payments, licensing updates, enrollment adjustments, capacity issues, and other operational matters. The position serves as a key liaison between the Administration for Children's Services (ACS), the Human Resources Administration (HRA), Voucher Payment Unit (VPU), YMS Management, and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely resolution of provider and family concerns.
The Deputy Director exercises independent judgment in managing staff, resolving escalated issues, implementing operational improvements, monitoring performance outcomes, and ensuring compliance with agency policies and procedures.
