Job summary

The City of Naperville's Transportation, Engineering and Development (TED) department seeks an Engineering Manager who will lead, direct and supervise department operations and personnel to deliver high-quality civil engineering, transportation and stormwater services, and to support the City's strategic goals. This role also serves as the Deputy City Engineer.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • At least five years of progressively responsible municipal engineering experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer license (State of Illinois) required.
  • Valid Illinois Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, manage and oversee transportation, engineering and stormwater projects through all phases from feasibility to construction.
  • Lead, train and evaluate Civil Engineers, Project Managers, Inspectors and staff; ensure proper training.
  • Prepare annual work plans and track progress; document and improve team processes.
  • Collaborate with other TED teams to achieve goals and respond to public concerns and requests for improvements.
  • Oversee consultants and contractors; present reports to City Council; act as staff representative to advisory boards.
  • Represent the department at meetings with municipalities, counties, regional agencies and the state.
  • Prepare, administer and monitor portions of the department budget; ensure safety rules are enforced.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
