Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Dayton, OH seeks a Deputy (Assistant Chief) in the Engineering Service to lead planning, organizing, directing and evaluating service line programs. This role requires strong interdisciplinary coordination and the ability to set qualitative and quantitative standards across facilities engineering.

The incumbent will supervise and guide staff, manage resources, and implement policies to ensure high-quality engineering operations within the VHA framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or Architecture from ABET-accredited program; includes Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical, Civil Engineering or Architecture.
• Evidence of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination with a bachelor’s degree (FE/EIT acceptable).
• Evidence of current professional registration or licensure as a Professional Engineer or Architect.
• Experience supervising healthcare engineering programs and coordinating interdisciplinary engineering activities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, evaluate and manage Service Line programs and set qualitative and quantitative standards.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary engineering coordination and integration across projects.
• Oversee staffing, budgets, schedules and performance evaluations within the Engineering Service.
• Draft and recommend local policies and directives for healthcare engineering management.
