The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Supervisory Healthcare Engineer (Chief FMS) to lead the Facilities Management Service across VA Medical Centers.

You will oversee engineering programs including maintenance, HTM, capital planning, energy management, and construction project management to ensure patient care continuity. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent.
• Current professional registration or licensure as a PE or Architect is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, sustainment, and improvement of hospital building features, automated building management, environmental control systems, and critical utilities.
• Oversee facilities management services, including subordinate engineers, to ensure compliance with VA, TJC, and other standards.
• Manage capital asset programs and construction projects within a large healthcare system.
• Provide guidance on budget, procurement, and contracting related to facilities and engineering services.
• Coordinate with executive leadership, medical staff, and clinical personnel to align engineering programs with patient care goals.
• Plan, organize, and direct evaluation and management processes for FMS with clear standards and performance metrics.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture

Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or equivalent registration
