Job summary

Anduril Industries, headquartered in Costa Mesa, CA, is seeking a Deputy Chief Engineer for the Tactical Recon & Strike division to lead multi-disciplinary teams in developing advanced drone systems such as Altius, Anvil, Bolt and Ghost. You will steer technical direction, ensure robust design, and enable field-ready capabilities for national security applications.

Qualifications

Senior role leading system design and development from concept through test and delivery to customers.
Basic understanding of Aerodynamics, IMUs, Control Actuation Servos, and their impact on system performance.
Bachelor-level degree in Robotics, Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Software engineering, or equivalent.
Experience with data analysis, rapid prototyping, and early-stage customer deployment.
Hands-on build and prototyping of complex robotic systems.
Familiarity with mechatronic design, firmware+software integration, sensor physics, tracking & calibration, and data-driven decisions.
Ability to engage technically with mechanical, electrical, firmware, sensors, and robotics software leads.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams through design trades meeting deadlines.
High ownership, mission-oriented mentality to meet customer needs.
Strong organizational skills and clear communication; collaborative culture orientation.
Willingness to obtain and hold a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

Lead technical execution from vision and design through fabrication, test and production.
Develop systems that support expeditionary operation and modular sensor expansion.
Set up design trades with SMEs and Business Development to close capability gaps.
Define a robust system architecture that balances software and hardware.
Lead design reviews and manage engineering risk across programs.
Coordinate fabrication of prototypes and low-rate production articles for testing.
Work with leadership to ensure adequate resource plans for scope.
Support remote troubleshooting and operation of deployed systems.
Conduct hands-on in-field testing and verification activities.
Create a verification and validation plan for end-to-end system.
