Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories seeks a Deputy Chief Engineer to join our core team designing and flight testing a new re-entry vehicle. This role requires a long-term commitment to the program with multiple flight tests for the US DoD.

You will work onsite with a multidisciplinary team across the Labs, collaborate with external partners on the East Coast, and guide quick-turn sponsor requests covering requirements, funding gaps, and test schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; five years of directly relevant experience or equivalent.
• Active US DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent required to start and the ability to obtain and maintain.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of your time.

Responsibilities

• Design and flight test a new re-entry vehicle as part of the core team.
• Lead and collaborate across labs and external partners to meet program goals.
• Address system and component requirements, software and algorithms, and avionics integration.
