Job summary

The Kroger Co. in Seattle is seeking a department leader to drive outstanding customer service and safe store operations. You will supervise department activities, support daily operations, and ensure adherence to company standards and promotions.

You will manage scheduling, product knowledge, cashier functions, and merchandising while enforcing health, safety, and inventory controls. This role emphasizes leadership and guest satisfaction in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Effective communication skills required.
• Knowledge of basic math: counting, addition, and subtraction.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Must be able to meet the minimum physical demands of the position.
• Must be 18 or older.

Responsibilities

• Develop adequate scheduling to balance customer volume with associate needs.
• Adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil codes.
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions.
• Understand the store's layout and locate products.
• Inform associates about current, upcoming and special promotions.
• Implement the period promotional plan for the department.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Maintain inventory awareness and note discrepancies.
• Plan, organize and supervise the inventory process.
• Train associates on inventory/stocking and ordering.
• Observe scheduled shift operating hours.
• Model excellent customer service and maintain a clean department.
• Demonstrate creative merchandising.
• Condition products according to policy.
• Authorize manager discretion markdowns.
• Understand and perform cashier functions.
• Ensure seasonal plans are executed to standard.
• Follow merchandising, customer service, labor control, expense and safety rules.
