Job summary

Day & Zimmermann Hawthorne is seeking an experienced Specialist, Training and Development to lead the safety and health program for the Hawthorne, NV contract. You will coordinate ISO 45001 activities, implement safety policies, and ensure compliance with OSHA, DoD, and federal requirements to reduce risk.

The role requires strong incident investigation skills, policy development capabilities, and leadership of safety personnel to ensure inspections and corrective actions are completed on

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, Management, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive safety, health, industrial safety, explosives safety, ammunition operations safety, compliance, or related experience; 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain all required safety and security certifications.
• Must hold a valid State driver’s license and ability to obtain government clearance.
• U.S. citizenship or naturalized citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the safety and health program for the Hawthorne, NV contract, coordinating ISO 45001 and ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, DoD, state and federal requirements.
• Manage safety resources and oversee inspections, investigations, reporting, and corrective actions to meet schedules.
• Conduct and document safety inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and follow up with stakeholders on corrective actions.
• Develop, update, and communicate safety policies, procedures, training materials, and program guidance; deliver safety training as needed.
• Lead incident, accident, and near-miss investigations and coordinate corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with Directors, depot leaders, government reps, HR, medical/testing, vendors, and others to address safety performance and compliance.
