Job summary

Air Liquide USA LLC in Newark, DE is seeking a Research Scientist to design and develop precursor molecules and deposition processes for ALD and CVD in semiconductor applications. You will work on dielectric and metal thin films, develop metrology tools, and contribute to process optimization for advanced electronics.

The role requires a PhD in Chemistry/ Chemical Engineering or Materials Science with ALD specialization (or a Master's with industry experience), hands-on ALD/CVD exposure, and

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science with ALD specialization or a Master's with 3+ years of industry experience.
• Hands-on experience with ALD and/or CVD deposition and related precursor design.
• Experience with plasma-based or thermal ALD tools and gas handling is highly desirable.
• Strong publication or conference presentation track record and ability to communicate results.
• Ability to work across multi-disciplinary, international teams and build networks.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approx. 5% travel).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Safety leadership and promoting IMS compliance within the team and facility.
• Lead projects on deposition processes (ALD/CVD) and design of new precursors.
• Screen and evaluate organometallic precursors for dielectric and metal films.
• Develop metrology tools and ALD processes for semiconductor applications.
• Build structure–property knowledge using in-situ and ex-situ analyses.
• Conduct literature and patent searches; promote IP development.
• Collaborate with global Air Liquide partners to transfer process know-how.
