Deposit Operations Manager

MUST HAVE: 3-5+ years Deposit Operations experience within a banking institute

MUST HAVE: Skilled knowledge in deposit operations processes, procedures, laws, regulations, applications and methods

MUST HAVE: Experience developing and building a team, providing leadership, coaching and direction.

Position requires up to 50% travel.

Sunflower Bank, N.A. is looking for an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of a full-time Deposit Operations Manager.

The Deposit Operations Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Deposit Operations team to ensure effective and efficient operations, while adhering to all Bank policies and procedures, federal regulations and applicable laws while providing excellent service. This includes monitoring activities and supervision of deposit operations functions including, but not limited to, Account Maintenance, Deposit Account Quality Assurance, IRA and HSA administration, Death Claims, Research, Legal Processing, Statements and Notices, Rate Changes, Safe Deposit Box, Lockbox, Tax Reporting, Deposit Account Management, Dormant/Escheatment and Exception item Processing. The Deposit Operations Manager plays a key role in enhancing customer satisfaction, operational efficiency and financial accuracy.

  • Manage Deposit Operation functions including, but not limited to, Account Maintenance, Deposit Account Quality Assurance, IRA and HSA administration, Death Claims, Research, Legal Processing, Statements and Notices, Rate Changes, Safe Deposit Box, Lockbox, Tax Reporting, Deposit Account Management, Dormant/Escheatment and Exception Item Processing.
  • Ensure all staff and supervisors effectively perform all essential job responsibilities accurately and timely, per bank policy and procedures, regulations, and internal controls.
  • Build and maintain a high performing, motivated team, providing leadership, coaching and direction.
  • Develop staff to align individual knowledge and skills with job functions and job performance expectations.
  • Manage the prompt review of daily work to ensure tasks are completed timely and accurately.
  • Ensure appropriate controls are in place to mitigate financial and reputation risks.
  • Leverage operational efficiencies to improve customer experience.
  • Support a culture of continuous learning, improvement, and process excellence.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standardized departmental policies and procedures for operational procedures that comply with regulations, state and federal law and internal controls.
  • Act as a deposit subject matter expert.
  • Complete monthly reporting to management.
  • Participate in Bank audits and exams as needed.
  • Participate in merger and acquisition activity as needed.
  • Resolve escalated operational issues.
  • Perform the job in accordance with applicable industry laws and regulations as well as the policies and procedures established by the company.
  • Responsible for upholding Fair and Responsible Banking practices and Code of Ethics and Conduct guidelines.
  • Understand and participate in the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Three to five years of deposit operations management experience preferred; two to three years of previous supervisory experience required.
  • Knowledge of deposit operations processes, procedures, laws, regulations, applications and methods including, but not limited to BSA, Reg CC, Reg E, NACHA Rules, Dodd Frank, UDAAP, Dormant/Escheatment and UCC.
  • Ability to manage multiple geographic areas and teams.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize projects across groups within department and bank.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.
  • Strong bank systems and application knowledge required.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and customer relation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in process improvement and risk management.
  • Strong supervisory and decision making and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle stressful situations as they occur.
  • Must be able to multi-task with frequent interruptions and be comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment with the ability manage multiple projects to conclusion on time.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours.
  • Travel between department locations is required.
  • Spanish bilingual preferred.
  • Must be bondable.

Pay is dependent on knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and location.
