Job summary

Seaboard Foods is seeking a Department Team Lead to oversee swine care under the Farm Supervisor and assist in supervising nursery and finisher staff. The role emphasizes following SOPs, maintaining facilities, and training employees for day-to-day operations.

Candidates should have an associate degree or equivalent and be proficient in English. The position entails coordinating schedules, keeping records, and ensuring safety and compliance across farm operations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree (A.A) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or related experience.
• Must be proficient in English language, reading and writing.

Responsibilities

• Attend and care for swine under supervision of Farm Supervisor.
• Assist in supervising employees in nursery or finisher department.
• Follow standard operating procedures and maintain facilities in good condition.
• Train employees on day-to-day processes to develop a competent workforce.
• supervise and schedule groups of employees in the absence of the supervisor.
• Maintain accurate records and reports of animals, employees, and supplies.
• Ensure timely completion of weekly and daily reports.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and vaccination protocols for the farm.
• Maintain alarm and emergency systems and respond to alarms appropriately.

Under the direction of the Farm Supervisor, the Department Team Lead will attend and care for swine. They will also assist in supervising employees in the nursery or finisher department.

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

• Ensure all standard operating procedures are being followed and facilities are in good working condition.
• Maintain high herd health and adhere to all biosecurity set forth by the company and proper feeding and care of animals.
• Training of employees on day-to-day processes and procedures to develop a competent workforce by utilizing hands-on training methods.
• Supervising and scheduling groups of employees and acting as manager when the supervisor is not present
• Maintain accurate records and reports of animals, employees, and supplies on the farm.
• Assist and ensure that all weekly and daily reports are turned in timely and accurately.
• Adhere to all safety procedures.
• Follow the assigned medication and vaccination protocols for the farm.
• Maintain the alarm system and all emergency systems and answer alarm calls properly

Qualifications

Required:

• Associate degree (A.A) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be proficient in English language, reading and writing.

SCHEDULE:

The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. After-hours, weekends and overnight travel as requested

WORKENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is commonly exposed to airborne particles and gases at low concentrations.The employee isfrequentlyexposed to waste material,feed,and hog dust.
