Job summary

The Institute for Family Health, a non-profit health system in New York, seeks a Department Coordinator for the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. This full-time role supports the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health across operations, education and research.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated office or relevant experience.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Very proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Significant facility with the Internet, experience with webinar applications a plus.
  • Experience or interest in the health field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison with other Mount Sinai departments and services.
  • Manage Family Medicine clinical rotations for medical students.
  • Office manager for the Department and the Family Medicine Inpatient Teaching Service, supporting day-to-day office operations including supplies, purchasing, expense reporting, and space/facility needs.
  • Support related educational programming, including student interest groups, Grand Rounds, the annual Research Symposium and other departmental events.
  • Assist with departmental communications, including maintenance of the department website, faculty profiles, and dissemination of departmental announcements and program information.
  • Provide administrative support for departmental research activities, including assistance with grant development and post-award administrative coordination.
  • Support coordination and communication between the department and affiliated residency programs.
  • Provide administrative support for Department Chair and Vice Chairs, as well as department administration.
