Position Summary
The College of Education, Department of Leadership Programs is seeking a collaborative and innovative colleague to serve as Department Chair. The successful candidate will meet the requirements for tenure and the rank of Associate/Full Professor in an area represented by the department. The Leadership department is dedicated to fostering a culture and climate of belonging and inclusiveness. Likewise, applicants teaching, service, and research should demonstrate commitment to and experience with (1) excellence in education; (2) culturally relevant and sustaining practice; and (3) comprehensive and sustained professional growth opportunities that enhance professional practices involving diverse populations. Ideally, the successful candidate will have knowledge of the CAEP Accreditation process and leadership experience in higher education.
The Department of Leadership and the College of Education are not currently offering any sponsorships for this position.
The anticipated date of employment is July 1, 2025.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Administering the department’s programs.
· Building and maintaining strong collaborative and responsive partnerships with school districts, local community agencies, community colleges, and on campus entities.
· Encouraging growth of innovative initiatives that build on the foundation of existing and new academic programs.
· Ensuring that engagement and success-oriented supports are accessible to students.
· Fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are considered valuable assets.
· Leading students, faculty, and staff.
· Managing operations (e.g., course schedules and budgets) and personnel concerns (e.g., faculty and staff performance evaluations including annual, third year, and tenure reviews).
· Supporting faculty productivity and professional development.
· Teaching at least one course per year.
· Working with internal and external constituents.
Minimum Position Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALFICATIONS
· Experience chairing and serving on Master’s and Doctoral committees.
· Experience conducting and disseminating scholarly research.
· Experience participating in national professional organizations.
· Experience seeking external funding.
· Experience supervising advanced graduate students’ research.
· Experience teaching within an area represented in the department.
· Experience working with curriculum and program development.
DESIRED QUALFICATIONS
· Demonstrated knowledge of education for globalization.
· Experience leading in higher education.
· Experience with Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation ( CAEP ) processes.
· Experience securing externally funded projects.
· Expertise in the use of technology in instruction.
