Job summary

Grady Health System in Atlanta seeks a licensed Dentist to oversee assessment and management of dental problems within the IDP patient population, and to lead dental staff and residents. The role involves collaboration with HIV/AIDS care teams, research participation, and potential grant activities under the Director of Oral Health Services.

You will mentor hygienists and residents, ensure timely documentation, and maintain credentials for medications.

Qualifications

• General practice experience is required, including collaboration with oral health specialists and knowledge of HIV-related dental problems.
• Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS).
• Eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in mentoring and evaluation of staff and residents (validated by direct observation and auditing of evaluations).
• Demonstrates current knowledge base of HIV/AIDS and general oral health care and ability to perform a comprehensive assessment of the oral cavity (validated by observation and in-service attendance certification on file).
• Demonstrates competency in diagnosis and treatment (annual competency validation by continuing education credit and chart/patient review by the Director of Oral Health Center).
• Maintains credentials for dispensing medications for treatment, prophylaxis, and analgesia (validated on Gradynet).
• Completes documentation by the end of the business day and submits reports in a timely manner (validated by documentation audit).
• Follows research protocols and gathers data (annual competency validated by supervising dentist).
• Demonstrates competency in educating patients, staff, and students (validated by observation and feedback).
