Job Summary

The Dentist oversees assessment and management of dental problems associated with the IDP patient population, including referral to specialists within the Grady Health System. Also participates in research activities related to dental issues of HIV-infected persons, and grant activities as assigned by the Director of Oral Health Services. Leads and directs the work of dental hygienists and residents.

QUALIFICATIONS

• GA Licensed Dentist - GDOCH - Georgia Department of Community Health
• Must have DEA registration number. Dental Association
• Clinical experience with at least two (2) years of experience in assigned clinical specialty.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintains credentials for dispensing medications for treatment, prophylaxis, and analgesia (validated on GradyNow).
• Demonstrates competency in educating patients, staff, and students (validated by observation and feedback).
• Completes documentation by the end of the business day and submits reports in a timely manner (validated by documentation audit).
• Demonstrates competency in diagnosis and treatment (annual competency validation by continuing education credit and chart/patient review by the Director of Oral Health Center).
• Follows research protocols and gathers data (annual competency validated by supervising dentist).
