Job Summary

Grady Health System, Georgia's largest safety-net hospital and a nationally recognized leader in trauma, public health, and health equity, is seeking an exceptional and mission-driven Chief of Dental Services to lead oral health initiatives at the world-renowned Ponce De Leon Center. The Ponce De Leon Center is the nation's only true one-stop shop for comprehensive HIV care and support services, delivering integrated, multidisciplinary care that is recognized for excellence, innovation, and impact. This is a rare opportunity for a Dentist who is deeply passionate about HIV care, committed to advocacy, and driven to improve the lives of persons with HIV.

The Chief of Dental Services will provide visionary clinical and administrative leadership, overseeing a high-performing dental program that serves pre-teen adolescents through adults living with HIV. This leader will ensure the delivery of routine to complex, modern dental care within a setting that prioritizes state-of-the-art infection prevention protocols, advanced equipment, and the highest standards of safety. This role is ideal for a Dentist who is not only a skilled clinician, but also a champion for the HIV community, a strong leader, and an exceptional colleague who thrives in a collaborative, mission-focused environment. The Chief will also play a key role in advancing the program's national reputation through research, grant writing, and oversight of multiple HIV-focused initiatives and services, while maintaining a deep understanding of funding mechanisms such as the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program and navigating its frameworks effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for Dental Services within the Oral Health Center
  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered dental care for persons with HIV, ranging from preventive services to complex procedures
  • Oversee and ensure adherence to advanced infection prevention protocols and utilization of state-of-the-art dental technology
  • Lead, manage, and grow the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program
  • Drive innovation and research initiatives focused on oral health in persons with HIV
  • Lead grant writing efforts, secure funding, and oversee the management and compliance of grant-supported programs
  • Provide oversight and operational leadership for multiple organizational HIV initiatives and support services
  • Demonstrate expertise in and ability to navigate Ryan White funding structures and requirements
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, health equity, safety, and accountability
  • Mentor, develop, and inspire a multidisciplinary team of dental professionals and staff
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance access, patient experience, and clinical outcomes
  • Membership on the Medical Executive Committee and other duties as assigned by the Chief Medical Officer
  • Serve as a visible advocate for the HIV community and for advancing equitable oral health care
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS)
  • Eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive dental practice experience, including leadership responsibilities
  • Experience in a large, complex health system or safety-net environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving persons with HIV and advancing health equity
Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a passionate HIV care advocate, an innovative clinical leader, and a collaborative partner who is energized by mission-driven work. They will bring:

  • A deep commitment to improving the lives of persons with HIV through compassionate, high-quality dental care
  • Strong leadership experience with the ability to inspire teams and drive meaningful change
  • Proven success in research, grant writing, and program development, particularly in HIV-related initiatives
  • Working knowledge of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program and experience navigating its funding and compliance landscape
