Job description

Aligned with a team of Cigna Healthcare Sales Professionals, the Dental Sales Executive (DSE) is positioned as the new business market leader for dental and vision products.

The DSE is responsible for selling dental and vision products within their aligned market space. Distribution of these products is through three main channels: standalone dental/vision, packaged with medical, and upselling from existing medical relationships. The DSE will need to identify the best strategies to maximize all distribution channels. The individual must be highly knowledgeable of our dental and vision products and services. This is a ‘hunter’ role requiring a minimum of five years of industry experience.

Market Strategy Responsibilities
  1. Sell new dental and vision business within the assigned market, taking responsibility for overall growth, balancing membership needs and profit targets.
  2. Meet or exceed growth plans based on new membership acquisition.
  3. Manage the sales process for all opportunities, developing strategies to secure wins.
  4. Consult on vision sales opportunities.
  5. Respond to RFPs by coordinating with internal partners and presenting financials and capabilities externally.
  6. Oversee implementation of new dental and vision accounts.
  7. Develop and execute a business development plan focusing on broker development, prospecting, and market presence. Collaborate with the Middle Market sales team to develop strategies for local markets, including vertical growth sectors like Government and Hospitals.
  8. Develop and implement prospecting plans targeting verticals such as Government & Education, Hospitals, etc.
  9. Participate in Monthly Business Review sessions to review pipeline, discuss broker development, and address marketplace needs.
  10. Utilize customer insights, competitive landscape, and independent judgment to influence dental product and pricing strategies.
Partnerships and Market Insights
  • Build partnerships by engaging in local market management discussions.
  • Understand market dynamics and communicate critical insights to senior management.
Knowledge and Promotion
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Cigna Dental products through ongoing training and participation in informational sessions.
  • Provide updates and training to sales partners, producers, and clients.
  • Proactively promote new dental products and features, coaching sales partners on product positioning and competitive techniques.
Qualifications
  • College Degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in Dental benefits and healthcare sales, with managed dental sales preferred.
  • Ability to develop presale strategies and proposals, solve problems, and bring industry insights.
  • Licensed producer.
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel frequently on short notice.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Financial acumen and membership growth focus.
