Job description

Aligned with a team of Cigna Healthcare Sales Professionals, the Dental Sales Executive (DSE) is positioned as the new business market leader for dental and vision products.

The DSE is responsible for selling dental and vision products within their aligned market space. Distribution of these products is through three main channels: standalone dental/vision, packaged with medical, and upselling off existing medical relationships. The DSE will need to find the best path to maximize all distribution channels. The individual must be knowledgeable about our dental and vision products and services. This is a ‘hunter’ role requiring a minimum of five years of industry experience.

Market Strategy Responsibilities
  1. Sell new dental and vision business within the aligned market. Take responsibility for the overall dental growth plan, balancing membership needs and profit levers.
  2. Meet or exceed growth plans based on new membership.
  3. Manage the dental sales process for all opportunities, identifying pathways to win and developing strategies for optimal outcomes.
  4. Consult on vision sales opportunities.
  5. Review and respond to RFPs by coordinating with internal partners (underwriting, proposal unit, network, etc.) and externally presenting financials and capabilities.
  6. Oversee the implementation of new dental and vision accounts.
  7. Develop and execute a business development plan focused on broker development, prospecting, and building market presence. Collaborate with the Cigna Healthcare Middle Market sales team to develop short and long-term sales strategies targeting brokers, consultants, and vertical markets such as Government Sector and Hospitals.
  8. Create a prospecting plan targeting verticals like Government & Education, Hospitals, etc.
  9. Participate in Monthly Business Review sessions to review pipelines, broker development, and prospecting efforts, discussing marketplace needs with internal partners.
  10. Utilize insights into customer needs and local market dynamics to work with the Dental Organization on industry-leading products, networks, and pricing.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Build partnerships through active participation in local market discussions.
  2. Understand market and competitive dynamics, and communicate key insights to Dental Senior Management.
  3. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Cigna Dental products through ongoing training and participation in informational sessions.
  4. Provide dental updates and training to sales partners, producers, and clients.
  5. Promote new dental products and features proactively, coaching sales partners on product positioning and sales techniques against competitors.
Qualifications
  • College Degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Dental benefits and healthcare sales; managed dental sales experience preferred.
  • Ability to develop presale strategies, proposals, and industry solutions in collaboration with matrix partners.
  • Licensed producer.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel frequently on short notice.
  • Ability to work independently, exercising judgment and discretion, with strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Effective influence, communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
  • Financial acumen and a focus on membership growth.

If working remotely, internet service must be via cable broadband or fiber optic with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
