Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a Patient Services Representative-Intermediate within the School of Dentistry – OMS to provide front-desk patient services, schedule appointments, handle check-in/check-out, verify insurance benefits and obtain authorizations.

You will answer calls, assist with financial counseling, coordinate with clinic staff, and support continuous patient flow while maintaining accuracy and professionalism in a fast-paced dental environment.

Qualifications

• Detail oriented with the ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
• Ability to monitor important and complex projects concurrently.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including memorandums, letters, and correspondence.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Verifies and/or obtains benefits information for patients.
• Obtains authorizations and referrals; assists with copays and balances and with financial counseling.
• Serves as an insurance resource for clinic staff.
• Remains up to date on insurance issues.
• Handles phone calls and transfers to appropriate departments.
• Manages patient appointments according to schedules/protocols.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
