The Laboratory Assistant helps set up labs, demonstrates skills, grades assignments, and assists faculty to ensure students master four-handed and six-handed dentistry techniques.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant program recognized by the USDE or CHEA (or recognized equivalent)
• Practical Experience: Minimum of three years of occupational experience in Dental Assisting
• Clinical Skills: Four-handed and six-handed chairside dentistry principles; awareness of state requirements

Responsibilities

• Lab Preparation & Instructional Support: Develop, schedule, and execute practical lab scenarios with faculty.
• Hands-on Demonstration: Demonstrate operation of clinical skills equipment and ensure safe practices.
• Supply Management: Monitor lab inventory and prepare restock requests as needed.
• Skill Check-Offs & Grading Support: Assist instructors with module check-offs and grading using keys.
• Academic Feedback: Advise students on performance and progress; schedule check-ins.
• Faculty Collaboration: Provide feedback on student needs and risks to instructors.
• Record Keeping & Compliance: Maintain confidential student records and comply with policy.
• Professional Development: Participate in trainings and develop program standards.
