Job summary

Smile Avenue Family Dentistry is seeking an Insurance & Billing Coordinator to keep claims moving, accounts accurate, and patients clear on what they owe. You’ll collaborate with insurance companies, patients, and the front office team to support timely, correct billing for every visit.

Success looks like reducing claim delays, maintaining clean patient accounts through accurate posting and reconciliation, and communicating coverage and balances in a way that builds patient confidence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Dental insurance or medical billing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of claims, EOBs, CDT codes, and coordination of benefits is a plus.
• Comfortable calling insurance companies and following up persistently.
• Comfortable discussing balances and collecting payments from patients.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate data entry.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized and able to manage multiple open items at once.
• Ability to work the days and hours listed, including Saturdays.
• Team-oriented mindset with ownership and follow-through.
• Willingness to complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefits before appointments.
• Prepare and submit accurate claims, including attachments and narratives.
• Post insurance and patient payments and reconcile EOBs.
• Follow up on unpaid, delayed, and denied claims until resolved.
• Contact insurance companies to address claim issues, corrections, and appeals.
• Review patient accounts and send statements on schedule.
• Explain coverage, estimates, and balances to patients in clear language.
• Set up payment plans and financing options when needed.
• Maintain up-to-date insurance plan and fee information in the dental software.
• Monitor aging reports and help keep accounts receivable current.
• Protect patient privacy and follow HIPAA guidelines.
• Support the front office team with additional tasks as needed.
