Job description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified and caring Registered Dental Hygienist to join our team! As a Registered Dental Hygienist, you will provide top-notch dental care that makes our clients feel like family. You will screen patients, perform dental cleanings, and assist the dentists with exams and procedures. The ideal candidate is state-licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist and has at least two years of experience. If you’re friendly, outgoing, and committed to creating a fantastic dental experience, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities:

  1. Welcome patients into the treatment area and make them feel comfortable.
  2. Discuss the dental care plan with patients and answer any questions they have.
  3. Prepare sterilized equipment and make it available to the dentist for exams and procedures.
  4. Take vital signs and accurately record medical histories.
  5. Perform preliminary exams and collect oral health histories.
  6. Evaluate patients for signs of gum disease, cavities, and infections.
  7. Remove plaque and apply fluoride treatments.
  8. Teach good oral hygiene techniques.
  9. Create dental impressions.
  10. Take and develop x-rays.
  11. Assist the dentist during procedures and exams.
  12. Adhere to all health and safety regulations and office policies.
  13. Perform dental hygiene procedures, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth.
  14. Conduct oral health assessments and screenings.
  15. Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide as needed.
  16. Maintain accurate patient records using Open Dental.
  17. Follow infection control protocols to ensure a safe and clean environment.
  18. Collaborate with the dental team to provide comprehensive patient care.

Skills:

  1. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and explain dental procedures.
  2. Strong knowledge of dental hygiene principles, techniques, and practices.
  3. Proficient in using dental practice management software such as Open Dental.
  4. Familiarity with medical coding for insurance billing purposes.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Attention to detail to ensure accurate documentation and patient care.

License/Certification:

  1. Registered dental hygienist license (required)
  2. CPR Certification (required)

Schedule: Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate: Santa Maria, Ca 93458. Reliable commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
