Job summary

Empower Dental Group in Southern California is seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) to join our expanding DSO. In this role you will perform prophylaxis, radiographs, perio therapies under dentist supervision, and patient education while upholding CA regulations.

We offer a competitive pay rate of $60–$65 per hour DOE plus a production bonus structure, a flexible schedule, and a 401(k). This is a full-time, on-site opportunity across our California practices.

Qualifications

• Active California RDH license in good standing.
• CODA-accredited dental hygiene program completed.
• CPR/BLS certification from a recognized provider.
• Radiography certification approved by the California Dental Board.
• Knowledge of the California Dental Practice Act and DHBC regulations is required.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience preferred.
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and dental imaging systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical/dental history and exams.
• Take and interpret dental radiographs per CA board protocols.
• Perform scaling and root planing, prophylaxis, and oral debridement.
• Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide where certified under dentist supervision.
• Apply topical fluorides and sealants as appropriate.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and preventive care techniques.
• Take impressions for whitening trays, night guards, and mouth guards.
• Maintain infection control, OSHA, and HIPAA standards.

The Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) is a licensed dental professional whose scope of practice includes preventative, therapeutic, and educational services aimed at improving and maintaining patients’ oral health. In accordance with California law, the RDH performs clinical duties including prophylaxis, periodontal therapies, local anesthesia administration, and radiographs. The hygienist is a key contributor to patient care and collaborates closely with the dentist to develop and implement treatment strategies.

Pay: 60-65/Hour DOE + Production Bonus Structure

Required Qualifications

• Active California Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) License in good standing.
• Completion of a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
• CPR/BLS Certification from an American Heart Association or equivalent provider.
• Radiography Certification approved by the California Dental Board.
• Knowledge of California Dental Practice Act and adherence to the Dental Hygiene Board of California (DHBC) regulations.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience preferred.
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and dental imaging systems.

Job Responsibilities

Clinical Duties (In Compliance with California Regulations)

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical/dental history, extra/intraoral exams, periodontal charting, and risk assessments.
• Take and interpret dental radiographs per California dental board protocols.
• Perform scaling and root planing, prophylaxis, and oral debridement procedures.
• Administer local anesthesia and nitrous oxide (if certified) under the dentist's supervision.
• Apply topical fluorides, sealants, and other preventative materials.
• Identify and document caries, periodontal disease, or oral pathology; refer to the dentist for further evaluation.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, nutrition, and preventive care techniques.
• Take impressions for whitening trays, night guards, and mouth guards.
• Adhere to strict infection control protocols, OSHA standards, HIPAA compliance, and universal precautions.
• Sterilize instruments, disinfect operatories, and maintain a safe clinical environment.

Administrative & Support Duties

• Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation and progress notes.
• Assist in maintaining dental records, including periodontal charting and treatment progress.
• Schedule and manage recall systems and follow-up appointments.
• Participate in continuing education and staff training to remain current with clinical standards and regulations.
